EoC Solution for the upgrade of analog CCTV system today coaxial cable-based analog CCTV systems is shift to ‘IP’ camera technology. IP systems have many advantages but the cost of re-projecting the cable of the network for IP can be expensive. ACORID’s Ethernet over Coax (EoC) transmission technology will lower down IP migration costs by allowing up to IP/Megapixel cameras to be connected and powered over a single Surveillance network coax cable.


This solution is typically half of the cost of upgrading to a twisted pair-based IP solution. For example: There was a need to expand the surveillance coverage at a historic hospital’s facility. This expansion needed to be done without damaging the existing structure or causing disruption to patient services. Eight existing analogue cameras were being used to watch over the entrances and receiving area, but their coverage was no longer adequate for the job.


The goal was to increase the camera up to a total of 16 cameras. Initially, the additional surveillance system needed to be Megapixel IP and were to be connected via newly installed UTP cable runs. But, alternately, by using EoC technology, the hospital was able to connect more additional IP cameras to each of the existing coax cable runs, to deliver a sixteen Megapixel IP camera capability.
